Our project has been "logged in" with the city permitting office. It will now take 2 to 4 weeks (or longer) to get everything thru. The permitting office needs to look thru the plans and the engineers report to make sure everything is following code and such. After doing the initial calculations for the insulation values of the building there was word we might have to insulate the whole building- meaning we would have had to cover up all the really cool brick walls. Jim found the numbers to calculate the "Thermal Mass" of the walls meaning the beauties will remain visible. Rock on!

Windows and Doors

"When Ben (the mason) Closes A Window, He Opens a Door"

The masons finished up all window and door holes. They look great! (the windows and doors, not the masons). I now have a brand spankin new door leading to my backyard directly from my master bedroom. That will make it easy to let Pica in and out and also quick access to the hottub!

She's a Brick House

The masons are hard at work fixing up all the brick in the place. If you look back at earlier pictures you'll notice that a lot of the brick is falling apart around all of the windows and doors. These guys are rock stars! Everything looks so nice and crisp now.

Nail Guns Rule!

We started framing today. Lots of fun. Jim thinks we are going to have the whole thing completely framed by tomorrow, that rocks. Here are some pics of todays progress.

Man, I look really dirty...(which I was)
